FLOODING NEWS RELEASE 

 Jefferson County residents are reminded to get building permits for repairs to damaged structures. Residents of Jefferson County are reminded that with the recent disaster, many structures in the community may have experienced structural damage. Repairs and/or reconstruction activities to structures damaged due to the disaster that are located in the floodplain will require a local building permit from the Jefferson County Building Department as required by Jefferson County local floodplain ordinance. In addition, depending on the property’s location, a permit may be required from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources prior to the start of any reconstruction activity. At the September 15th Commissioner meeting, the Commissioners read aloud a resolution presented by the Jefferson County Plan Commission. This resolution waives building permit fees for persons seeking to rebuild, restore or replace structures damaged by the Labor Day flooding. View the entire resolution here.
