Are you a resident of Jefferson County with poor or even worse, no internet at your home or business? The Jefferson County Broadband Task Force wants to fix these issues and is actively pursuing programs that will benefit broadband in Jefferson County for long-term development. These Federal and State funded programs are rapidly being released to address these important issues. The programs that assist residents, businesses, and even local internet service providers (ISP) use mapping tools. These mapping tools show which areas are in the highest need. The higher the need, the higher the chance an area gets funded for broadband expansion. There are multiple ways Jefferson County residents can increase the data on these maps to attract awareness to this frustrating issue. Visit the Indicators of Broadband Need map. Is your area in red? If, so you may qualify for assistance. Communicate your need by:
Conducting a speed test at your location. *When doing this on a cell phone, put the phone in “WIFI Mode” to test the speed of the actual internet connection.
